We had a great hammering activity that was intended for a day and ended up taking over a week. They loved it! They just hammered and pulled out the golf tees that we used as nails and started again. We let them go with this until the Styrofoam board was falling apart. Look how cute they are with their hard hats and hammers :)
We brought in some miniature shovels in different sizes and styles for the kids to dig in our "digging area". We buried some random objects in the yard and let them so that the kids could dig for treasure. They had a ball!
We broke out the tractors, a fork lift and a dump truck to create cool tracks in our paintings. With sound effects and big tractor scoops of paint we made some very cool pictures :)
We built our own marshmallow creations. There were towers and robots and fariswheels. The best imaginations ever play here! I was so proud of all of the different things the kids created. They worked so hard and everyone had great stories to go along with what they made.
We read the story of the three little pigs. Then everyone worked together and we built a brick house (a cardboard box house covered in paper bricks). The kids took turns playing inside as pig and outside of the house as the big bad wolf trying to blow the house down.
Next we built stick houses out of popsicle sticks on construction paper. The kids had so much fun talking about the different features of each others houses. Some had chimneys some had windows or extra doors. It was really fun to see what they came up with and how much they understood about what makes a house. This has really been a fun subject for them to explore! Can't wait to see what they come up with next week...
