With the schoolagers out for the summer and a full house of kids we have decided to embrace help wherever we can find it :) Elijah is practicing his reading this summer to get ready for 1st grade and Bryce needed a little extra attention. So why not kill two birds with one stone? Elijah sat and read book after book to a very captivated Bryce while he kicked back in his swing and enjoyed the stories.
This is the Jibber Jabber News Wire. It is our online connection with the families that allow us the privilege of spending our days with their children. This newsletter is where we share funny stories and exciting events that take place while your children are in our very unique childcare. We will allow them opportunities that not every child would be allowed to have to explore new things in their world at a young age. We love to watch them investigate and see what happens as they try new experiences and gain so much knowledge. Please take a look and see all of the fun we have been having while we learn and get ready for school.

Lets Beat The Heat
In the crazy weather we have to stay armed for whatever comes our way :) We went from hail to 100 degrees in less than 3 weeks. That just makes the children (and most adults) crazy! Since they didn't get much of a spring we have jumped right into summer. We are doing our best to stay cool by whatever means necessary.
We had a water balloon toss the other day. Which ended up being a game of how many kids could sit on the water balloon before it popped. Turns out, most of our kids are not all that good at catching and it is fairly hard to convince the little ones to throw the balloon to their friends because that would mean that their turn was over. But we had lots of fun. They had a blast and a little break from the heat.
We have broken out the sprinkler. This is my favorite way to do water play, because it is so open to interpretation. They can run through it, catch it on their tongues, in a bucket, or sit and just let it rain down. Plus it waters the grass. They love it, just the simple sprinkler no bells or whistles or moving parts.
It is going to be a long hot summer. We will have to be creative from here...

Toy Wash!
We had a toy wash. We pulled out all of the outside toys and gave the kids buckets of soapy water and sponges. I wish adults still found it so fun to wash stuff. The kids were so excited! They went from toy to toy seeing how many bubbles they could get to stay on the toys. There was a contest to see who could find the dirtiest toy. There were some dirty ones... And of course there were the kids who just dipped the sponges in the water and threw them so they could see the waste stream off through the air and get everyone else wet. Good fun and somewhat cleaner toys. Glad we got one good water play day in during this crazy weather.

Music Week!!!
This week we have been learning about musical instruments. We spent the week making our own band. We made Drums that the kids decorated to reflect their own unique style.
They made Guitars out of old tissue boxes that we asked the parents to donate and some empty paper towel rolls.
We made Kazoos with tp rolls. It kept them busy and happy all week and Friday we made a band!

We also spent a morning playing drums with paint on them. We just took some drums and put paint directly on the drumming surface, gave the kids drumsticks and let them play as loud as they could. It was sooooo much fun! We were all covered in paint splatters. My hair was about 10 different colors... But so much fun! And the picture that the paint splatters created is awesome! We hung it in the play room along with pictures of the the kids drumming. Please check it out when you come through, it is great.

Three Girls in a Tub,
And Who Do You Think They Be?
Samantha, Aurora and McKinley
And off to the Fair all three.
Trip to the park
Well, it has been a while since we all got to go to the park. So we decided that we would all walk down to the park down the street and let the kids have a change of scenery. We had so much fun! It's not a big playground, but we didn't have any big kids so it worked out great. They had fun playing hide and go seek and going down the slides, some people found their own way of doing it.
Future employee, Sammy, entertained the little ones by blowing bubbles for them. They would giggle and then she would giggle, it was so funny.
